Use Case · Cosplay
FDMCosplay props are large and carried around all day, so weight matters. The usual approach is to print in FDM with light infill, split by section, then assemble and paint.
Quick answer
Cosplay props are usually printed light in FDM PLA with partial infill, and anything over 300 mm is split into parts joined with alignment pins and slots. PETG is safer for hot or outdoor events, and small emblems or rings printed separately in DLP resin lift the finish.

PLA can warp in a hot car. For outdoor events, PETG is safer.
Print small detailed parts such as rings and emblems separately in resin and attach them.
General tendencies on a 5-point scale. Real results depend on geometry, size and material.
Props over 300mm are printed in parts. Alignment pins and slots at the joints make them strong and easy to line up.
For long weapons, design a through-hole for a metal rod or carbon tube so they do not bend or snap.
For wearables such as helmets, scale to your actual head size and leave 1–2cm of inner clearance.
FDM parts have layer lines; primer and filler before paint give a smooth finish.
